Here's a general sketch picture of the Eiffel Tower that I'm going to use as the basis for my project:

external image bd95e.jpgObviously I'll need something thin but fairly inflexible for all the ironwork. Lavender stems? I can use some kind of grass for the lawn, and something twiggy for the trees. I still think it could be fun to try and "carve" some olives and grapes to be either people or cars. Not sure if I'll do some of the surrounding buildings too. Haven't decided on that yet.

This guy is my role model. He's done a bunch of toothpick models of different world landmarks. Here he is working on the Eiffel Tower:

I need to do THIS, but with plant material. I may have to think about using some sort of glue or lacquer to harder up the plants enough to be able to have a solid structure.

Random idea: maybe try to do some if the project in French? Not the Personal Statement, but maybe some of the signs and displays I do? Maybe I could put little signs with the french words for things in the model...voiture, Tour Eiffel, etc.
